Kill Dil - Review

What is it all about?

Never judge a book by its cover.. the trailers of Yash Raj’s ‘Kill Dil’ marking the return of the talented  Shaad Ali after the mistake in 2007 called ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’ gave a impression of a Bollywoodised gonzo type crime caper that the notoriously famous Italian Tarantino used to make.

But when encountered this Nitesh Tiwari (Bhoothnath Returns, Chillar Party), Shreyas Jain(Bhoothnath Returns - additional script writer) and Nikhil Mehrotra (Bhoothnath Returns - additional script writer) scripted potboiler turns out to be a detached, tediously clichéd action drama that escalates in style, colour and budget but is mercilessly short on entertainment and excitement.

Even the ‘god gifted’ talents like Govinda, Ranveer and Pareeniti (arranged in order of their seniority) fumble their way alienating the audiences further who wonder what was the motive behind this bummer.

The Story

The writers Nitesh Tiwari, Shreyas Jain, and Nikhil Mehrotra just don,t feel the need in this joint statement of their creed in ‘Kill Dil’ scripting. No establishment, characterization, nothing. This one starts badly and goes downhill.

Bhaiyaji (Govinda) picks up two babies from dustbin and trains them to become his sharp shooters Dev (Ranveer) and TuTu (Ali Zafar) they make their targets smell the gun and dance merrily on the title song wearing designer jackets. One day Dev bumps into Disha (Parineeti Chopra) - a kind hearted reformer who rehabilitates criminals.. if you are still reading this, you will guess what is next. So bromance, romance, drama all pops up but doesn,t work.

What to look out for

Well the actors try to pump life into this ‘forgettable’ disaster in the first half especially Ranveer, and Pareeniti. Govinda also draws interest as bhaiyaji initially as the baddie but fades later.

What not

Some might argue the harshness in this review of ‘Kill Dil’ but this one shamelessly keeps shying away from basic intellect of keeping the interest of the audience intact.

‘Kill Dil’ is a good example of talented people putting their faith in a rotten piece of cinema simply because it had premiere banner like Yash Raj and talented Shaad Ali (Bunty babli, Saathiya) name. When the peoples verdict will be out, it won,t be a good sight.
